Something is wrong with my laptop hard drive?

I just got a laptop Refurb Tiger Direct. This is a md2614u gateway. I wondered why my laptop only 218g on my hard drive, but Tiger Direct says that the 250G. For now 193g to 218g is no point System Restore. If it was a system restore point would be 160g of 218g. When I bought this laptop was a CD for Vista im guessing that in my album hard. So that's why my hard disk has been eaten?. Sorry if I did not mean much. Just need to know if there is something wrong with my drive or is anyway to free up more space-Im using a Vista 64 bit if that helps anyone with my question, answer will be greatly appreciated

If it comes with Vista preinstalled, so that the recovery discs to create, usually 2 and a DVD some of the premium in the country, I would do this as soon as possible, as only a backup operating system, this is the reason. If you make recovery disks and think you can delete what is on the disc for you to get the space I'm not sure, but you can ask a question of where bought it?
