Is it worth replacing a failed motherboard in a laptop?
The repairman said the motherboard has died on my fujitsu siemens laptop, and said it wasn’t worth fixing it (it cost me £800 less than 2 years ago). Why is this? Are motherboards really so expensive?
mother boards for laptops are hard to come by. laptops are a real pain when it comes to replacing screens, keyboards and motherboards.
Have a look on some of the big PC suppiers online like ebuyer. look for laptop components.
You could probably by a better laptop now for £350.
Sorry for the bad news but to even buy a barebook (laptop case with motherboard, screen and psu etc) is nigh on impossible in the UK.
You can buy and OCZ gamers barebook with an 8600gt GPU in it for about £415 and then transfer the HDD, CPU and RAM across if it’s compatible.
If you’re using this at home and don’t need it to be portable, you’d be better to buy a desktop. My laptop is purely for portable work and media. my desktop is the real deal….but ripe for some upgrading.
