Will DDR memory work with a DDR2 motherboard?
My computer needs a new processor (to run crysis 
), but my motherboard is socket 939 X2, I think the highest that socket 939 goes is about 4400? I would like something better than that. I am either going to get a core 2 duo, or AM2. My memory right now is DDR, but all the new motherboards I see are DDR2. Will my DDR memory work with the new motherboard?
You can’t use DDR in a motherboard specified for DDR2. However, there are boards that support core 2 and DDR. I think ASRock makes one. But considering the support for this non-mainstream board will be poor it would be easier just to buy new ram and a board with a poplular chipset like the intel P35. Also considering new ram is only about $25-$35/per gigabite, investing in new ram is not bad at all.
