If the motherboard of a computer gets destroyed can private data still be accessed?
I heard that computer techs can trace data from your computer, but what if the motherboard of the computer gets destroyed. Would all the data in it be lost?
The only data on the motherboard is located on some of the chips that are hard coded. Something like the cmos and bios chips. The data you should be worry about is the data on the hard drive.
Take the drive out and hold on to it until you can hook it up to another system and either backup your data or run an application to wipe out the drive data securely before dumping the drive if you no longer want it.
Data can be recovered from the hard drive if you are skilled enough even after it’s formatted.
