Replacing Motherboard In PC?
I have a question i’m sure many run into when rebuilding prebuilt pcs. I have a nice black ibm intellistation tower, huge case(taller and longer than my 19″ crt) with 3 case fans and it takes standard atx. I was just wondering if it is possible to use the 2 front usb ports on the front of the case and how to get the power button and leds working. It is one solid connecter in this one, but the usb is on another cable.
Your going to have to either get the motherboard manual out or go to the website of the mobo manufacturer to check the pin set up
The manual should show you exactly where to plug them.
Warning tho.
Make sure u get it right as putting the power or usb headers in wrong on the mobo and powering on could and sometimes does damage or short the motherboard, especially if the Power headers + goes in to the mobos – and vicer versa,powering on could just send a negative surge into it
Most cases now group there headers and leds and powers easily in to one plastic chip rather than them all being separte wires etc and mobos usually have colour coded pins.
