Laptop lcd inverter blowing repeatedly – why would this happen?
Hi there
Have replaced an lcd inverter a few times only to have it blow again. What could be causing it to blow repeatedly? I am definitely using the right part.
Is it possible that a faulty lcd ribbon could be causing the inverter to blow? Or is it more likely to be a problem with the mainboard? When it blew the first time, it had been going for a long time, and the screen flickered when I moved the hinges.
If anyone can help, I would be really appreciative. Noone seems to know what to do!

I think the problem might be the lcd+lcd ribbon itself.
If it blows twice that means it’s not the lcd inverter obviously. I don’t believe it to be the motherboard for a few reasons.
What I think it is:
I think you might have a shorcircuit somewhere on the ribbon, which might be causing this to happen. Replace the ribbon and the lcd and then see what happens. You never know. The LCD could be drawing too much power from the inverter, which could be causing it to overload. If the ribbon is shorted somwhere, then it could be pulling too much current from the inverter that’s causing it to explode.
Suggestion is to replace the LCD and ribbon. See if the LCD is good and check to see if the ribbon is good. If both are good, then try to troubleshoot the motherboard. See if you can narrow the problem down first before purchasing another inverter.
Also try to connect the inverter to the motherboard w/o connecting it to the LCD then power on the laptop. This will tell you if the motherboard is causing it to blowup. If the inverter works fine, then you know that it’s the LCD/Ribbon causing the problem.
