The cricket match between Somerset v Nottinghamshire is going to take place in county cricket ground, Taunton. In 1928 the Taunton Cricket Club was formed. In 1875 the Somerset CCC was formed, but the club did not achieve first class status until 1891. Before moving to Moorfields, Taunton Cricket Club played at The County Ground until 1977. When you will enter the ground you will either go through the JCW gates (St.James Street) or the Sir Vivian Richards gates.  Taunton Cricket Club has a capacity of 9,000 and the ends are called the River End and the Old Pavilion End and one of the main stands is named after Ian Botham, the great cricketer in the history of cricket. The Taunton Cricket Ground hosted an open air concert by Elton John on 18th June 2006 to a sell-out 23,000 crowd. Elton John’s dedicated one of his songs to Ian Botham, which exposed the truth that the retired English cricketer is in the audience. Ian Botham was watching from his namesake pavilion.
